Employee Spotlight – Dominique Rhodes

Dominique Rhodes is the Plant Director at Frito-Lay’s San Antonio manufacturing facility. (Fun fact – this is the original facility where Fritos were first made back in 1973.) He is responsible for a team of 400 employees who create our beloved snacks, such as Lay’s, Cheetos, Doritos and, of course, Fritos. Since the beginning of the pandemic, Dom and his team have worked hard to keep up with increased demand for our products, as consumers have turned to snacking as a much needed break from the daily challenges of a topsy-turvy world.

“We know how important it is to have Frito-Lay snacks available for consumers, because they represent a little bit of normalcy in people’s lives,” Dom explained. “And that’s something we all need these days. That’s why we have done everything we can to keep store shelves stocked, which means keeping our facilities up and running. Most importantly, it means keeping our people as safe as possible at all times.”

A big part of Dom’s round-the-clock efforts to keep everyone safe has been to provide ample supplies of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure all cleanliness standards are being met. In addition, he has kept communication channels open, using videos, posters, and flyers, so his team remains informed about the latest safety measures. He works hard to keep team moral up by continuously letting everyone know their commitment to consumers is valued, which is why his team members proudly wear t-shirts that read “Keeping America’s supply chain running.”

Dom is a shining example of a Frito-Lay leader who harnesses optimism, empathy, and resiliency to keep his teams inspired and focused on the possible.
