Having worked as a Community Relations Manager at Frito-Lay for 17 years, I have been deeply involved in many of our outreach efforts. Quite honestly, I think I have the best job! Every day I have the opportunity to work closely with associates who are incredibly passionate about helping those in need. What could be better than spending your time giving back to the community?

Of the many events we sponsor across the country, there is one in particular that is near and dear to me. The first time I volunteered at a Feed the Children event, it was a real awakening for me. Seeing poverty close up - families not able to afford food - it was heartbreaking. At the same time, I was really inspired watching my co-workers in action, getting involved and helping families that are less fortunate.

I’m proud to say that Frito-Lay and PepsiCo have a long-standing partnership with Feed the Children, which is a global non-profit organization that addresses hunger. We actively participate in events for this charity across the country.

At Frito-Lay, I work with so many dedicated people who believe in giving back, which motivates me to provide them volunteer opportunities to help others and make a difference in their community.

In addition to Feed the Children, for the past 14 years, we have been a presenting sponsoring and participated in the Dallas Heart Walk. This gives our associates the opportunity to raise funds for the American Heart Association. I love this event because it not only supports a worthy cause, but it encourages us all to be more health conscious by walking and exercising.

Another important charity we support is Susan G. Komen’s Race for the Cure. Far too many of our associates have been affected themselves or have a loved one with breast cancer. So, through our sponsorship and participation in the annual walk, we have the opportunity to show our support. We have been part of the Komen race here in the Dallas area for more than 20 years.

These are just some of the charities and causes we support. I think it’s important for consumers to know what we stand for as a business and what is important to the people at PepsiCo. I have worked for PepsiCo for 33 years and in that time I have had the distinct privilege of working with countless associates who have given so generously and have been so passionate when it comes to helping others. I really do have the best job.
