In honor of National Barbecue Month, we’re sharing this story of how we, in partnership with Pepsi, helped one of the best BBQ joints in Dallas persevere through the pandemic.
The owners of this award-winning establishment, Dwight and Rose Harvey, both worked at Frito-Lay for four decades and made lasting impacts as leaders on both our business and culture. Once they retired, they started their current venture in south Dallas: Off the Bone Barbeque.
When the pandemic started, PFNA CEO Steven Williams called the Harveys to make sure their business was still standing, and to see how we at Frito-Lay could provide additional support. We have been fervent supporters of the southern Dallas community through the creation of the Southern Dallas Thrives initiative, which strives to improve education, income, and health within the community. Off the Bone also became part of the Pepsi Dig In project, which supports Black-owned restaurants.
