Tostitos Salsa Remains Safe; Not Affected by Concerns About Jalapeños 

Tostitos Salsa remains safe to enjoy and is NOT affected by a salmonella outbreak in the U.S. that health officials now believe may be linked to jalapeño peppers. The recent illnesses that may be related to raw jalapeños or foods made with them such as fresh salsa are a result of potential salmonella exposure from FRESH, RAW jalapeños. Processed foods containing COOKED jalapeños, including Tostitos salsa, DO NOT pose a threat because when the jalapeños are cooked the bacteria are killed. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) considers fully cooked ingredients to be safe.
