Frito-Lay North America, a division of PepsiCo, has had a long standing commitment to sustainability. We've placed a priority on reducing our use of key natural resources such as fuel, which will ultimately help us reduce our overall environmental impact. It is our goal to become the most fuel-efficient fleet in the nation. We are confident we will achieve this goal as a member in the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) SmartWaySM program.
Launched by the EPA in 2004, the SmartWay brand identifies products and services that reduce transportation-related emissions. However, the impact of the brand is much greater as the SmartWay brand signifies a partnership among government, business and consumers to protect our environment, reduce fuel consumption, and improve our air quality for future generations. All of EPA SmartWay transportation programs result in significant, measurable air quality and/or greenhouse gas improvements while maintaining or improving current levels of other emissions and/or pollutants.

Since joining the program in 2005, Frito-Lay has saved more than 15 million gallons of fuel, in part by incorporating SmartWay recognized technologies and best practices. Currently, through PepsiCo logistics, 100% of our carrier spending is with SmartWay partners.
