Grade A Potatoes

It all starts with the highest qaulity potatoes, which we harvest from over 80 farms across America to make Lay's® Potato Chips.

Better Oil

Lay's® Classic Potato Chips are cooked in better oils like sunflower, corn and/or canola oil, which contain 0g trans fat and are lower than other oils in saturated fats.

A Dash of Salt

A 1 ounce bag of Lay's® Classic Potato Chips contains less than 1/12th of a teaspoon of salt. In fact, there's more salt in one slice of bread than there is in a serving of Lay's® Classic Potato Chips.

Simple to make.

All across America potatoes are specifically grown for Frito-Lay to make great tasting chips. Upon arrival at one of our plants, it can take as little as 24 hours for the chips to be made because we keep the process so simple.

  • Wash - We bathe and clean whole potatoes thoroughly in water.
  • Peel - Next we gently peel the skin so that the flavor remains.
  • Slice - The potatoes are thinly sliced and rinsed again to remove any excess starch.
  • Cook - The slices are cooked to a crispy crunch in oil.
  • Season - Finally, the chips are topped with a sprinkle of salt.
  • The potatoes are now delicious chips and are packed and delivered
    to a store near you.
