What We Stand For

At Frito-Lay, delighting our consumers is job No. 1. To us, that means putting consumers first in every decision we make – from the quality and care that goes into making our snacks to the ways in which we give back to the community and care for our environment. Our associates take pride in their jobs because our consumers deserve nothing less.


How It All Started

In 1932, C.E. Doolin entered a small San Antonio cafe and purchased a bag of corn chips. Mr. Doolin learned the corn chips manufacturer was eager to sell his small business, so he purchased the recipe, began making Fritos corn chips in his mother's kitchen and sold them from his Model T Ford.

That same year, Herman W. Lay began his own potato chip business in Nashville by delivering snack foods. Not long after, Mr. Lay purchased the manufacturer and formed H.W. Lay & Company. The company became one of the largest snack food companies in the Southeast. In 1961, H.W. Lay & Company merged with the Frito Company, becoming Frito-Lay, Inc.

In 1965, Frito-Lay, Inc. merged with Pepsi-Cola to form PepsiCo.

Vivek Sankaran is president and chief operating officer (COO) of Frito-Lay North America, where he leads PepsiCo’s $15 billion snack and convenient foods business.

Vivek’s leadership of Frito-Lay began in 2016, after serving as COO where he was responsible for marketing, customer (retailer) sales and go-to-market transformation functions, and oversaw PepsiCo’s commercial agenda in North America and across the PepsiCo customer teams. Prior to that role, Vivek was chief commercial officer for PepsiCo, where he led the company’s cross-divisional performance across its North American customers.

Before joining PepsiCo in 2009, Vivek was a partner at McKinsey and Company, where he served various Fortune 100 companies bringing a strong focus on strategy and operations. He co-led the firm’s North American purchasing and supply management practice and was on the leadership team of the North American retail practice.

Vivek has an MBA from the University of Michigan, a master's degree in manufacturing from Georgia Institute of Technology and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Chennai.

Kristen Blum is senior vice president and CIO for Frito-Lay North America, where she leads the technology agenda that powers PepsiCo’s $15 billion snack and convenient foods business. Her responsibilities include leading development and delivery of technology capabilities across Frito-Lay North America’s supply chain, operations, marketing, sales, insights, research and development, finance, human resources and other supporting businesses.

Kristen joined PepsiCo in 2010. Her previous roles at the company include leading the commercial solutions, innovation, and data and analytics function for the enterprise, and technology transformation programs for North America.

Kristen has more than 25 years of professional experience in technology and business leadership positions at leading retail and consumer-focused companies, including JCPenney, Abercrombie & Fitch, Apple, Planet Hollywood International, Disney and Victoria’s Secret. She also was a consultant with KPMG, working with a variety of retail, consumer packaged goods and technology companies.

Kristen is on the board of directors for the National Society of High School Scholars Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star, and the board of advisors for The Ohio State University’s English department. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Ohio State.

Chris Kuechenmeister

Chris Kuechenmeister is vice president of communications for Frito-Lay North America, where he is responsible for internal and external communications across customers, employees, the media and other key stakeholders.

Before serving in this role, Chris led public relations strategy and reputation management for Frito-Lay and its portfolio of snack brands. Prior to joining Frito-Lay in 2008, he served in various leadership roles directing corporate reputation and consumer communications across a variety of brands and companies on both the agency and corporate sides, including roles with Hill & Knowlton, Michelin North America, and other consulting firms on the East and West Coasts. Chris holds a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and is a native of the Detroit area.

Michael Lindsey

Senior Vice President, Strategy

Michael Lindsey is senior vice president (SVP) of strategy for Frito-Lay North America. In this role, Michael and his team are responsible for identifying new strategic business opportunities and solving critical long-term business challenges.

Michael began his career with PepsiCo in 2009, holding a series of leadership roles in corporate strategy and as vice president of strategy for the AMEA sector. In 2014, Michael moved to Shanghai as general manager (GM) of the China Dairy business unit. He then moved to an expanded role as the SVP and GM of PepsiCo’s nutrition category and commercialization, where he led the nutrition category.

Michael joined PepsiCo from management consultancy McKinsey & Company. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in computer science and economics from Rice University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Jason McDonell

Jason McDonell is president of PepsiCo Foods Canada. A 17-year PepsiCo veteran, Jason has a wealth of knowledge in general management, sales and marketing from his time serving in PepsiCo’s foods and snacks businesses across Canada and the U.S.

At the beginning of his PepsiCo career, Jason worked in brand marketing in Canada on some of the company’s biggest brands, including Lay’s, Doritos and Cheetos. He then relocated to Frito-Lay North America headquarters in Plano, Texas, where he served as director of marketing. He then moved to Frito-Lay North America sales as vice president and general manager for customer strategy, before taking on a broader role as vice president and general manager of PepsiCo sales in California.

Jason returned to Canada in 2011 as the chief marketing officer for PepsiCo Foods Canada. He subsequently moved to a field assignment in 2013 as general manager field sales for the Ontario area – the country’s largest direct-store-delivery retail market. In 2015, Jason took over as vice president/general manager of field sales for Canada, where he was responsible for go-to-market, foodservice and the Ontario, East and West regions of Canada.

Prior to PepsiCo, Jason worked in brand management at Procter & Gamble. He holds an honors business degree from Wilfrid Laurier University.

Patrick McLaughlin

Senior Vice President of Human Resources, Chief Human Resources Officer

Patrick McLaughlin is senior vice president of human resources and chief human resources officer for Frito-Lay North America, leading the field and headquarters structure with a focus on building organizational health and capability, developing talent and strengthening employee relations.

Patrick assumed this role in February 2012, after serving as vice president of human resources sales and supply chain, which included the human resources support for Frito-Lay North America plants, sales regions, sales operations organizations and the headquarters organizations since May 2010. Before this appointment, he served as a regional human resources director, manager of labor relations, and head of the human resources function for the Pepsi-Cola North America franchise organization at Pepsi Beverages Company/Pepsi Beverages Americas, where he helped lead the integration of bottler acquisition.

Prior to PepsiCo, Patrick worked for Exxon in organizational development, labor and HR generalist roles. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Purdue University and is originally from Northwest Indiana.

Leanne Oliver

Senior Vice President & General Counsel

Leanne Oliver is senior vice president and general counsel of Frito-Lay North America, responsible for managing all legal matters for Frito-Lay North America. She assumed this role in September 2017.

Leanne joined Frito-Lay in 1996 as part of the human resources department and transferred to the Frito-Lay legal department in 2000. She has held a number of positions of increasing responsibility in the Frito-Lay legal department and spent more than six years at PepsiCo’s corporate headquarters in Purchase, N.Y. where she led the employment law function for PepsiCo’s U.S. businesses.

Leanne holds a bachelor’s of science degree in biology from Gonzaga University and a law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. 

Gregg Roden

Senior Vice President, Supply Chain

Gregg Roden is senior vice president of Frito-Lay North America’s supply chain, leading the 24,000-person-strong field team responsible for making and moving Frito-Lay snacks across the U.S. and Canada.

In addition to overseeing the field organization, Gregg is responsible for the engineering, asset strategy, contract manufacturing, quality, food safety, product supply, integrated supply chain planning, and environmental health and safety teams based at Frito-Lay North America headquarters in Plano, Texas.

Gregg assumed his current role in January 2017, after serving in various capacities with Frito-Lay North America, including as senior vice president of Frito-Lay’s field supply chain and productivity team, senior vice president of supply chain for the West division, region vice president of supply chain for the Southeast region, and senior director of a functional center of excellence at Frito-Lay North America headquarters.

Gregg joined PepsiCo in 1990 after graduating from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial distribution.

Jennifer Saenz
Jennifer Saenz

Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer

Jennifer Saenz serves as senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Frito-Lay North America, where she leads the marketing organization with responsibility for brands, innovation, strategic insights and analytics, and design across the full snacks and convenient foods portfolio.

Prior to assuming her current role, Jennifer was vice president of marketing innovation for Frito-Lay North America, where she was responsible for directing the company’s innovation strategy and product pipeline.

Jennifer previously served as senior director of marketing, responsible for leading the Lay’s potato chip brand. While overseeing the Lay’s brand, she led the highly successful “Do Us A Flavor” promotion, repositioned the Lay’s Wavy potato chips business to appeal to women and expanded the product portfolio into salty/sweet offerings. Her previous positions at Frito-Lay North America include marketing director of the SunChips brand and senior director of the Lay’s brand.

Before joining Frito-Lay, Jennifer worked at Deloitte Consulting’s consumer business and retail strategy group.

Jennifer earned her MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and her Bachelor of Arts from the Goizueta School of Business at Emory University.

Dianne Sutter
Dianne Sutter

Vice President of Global Procurement and Market Supply Officer Frito-Lay North America

Dianne Sutter is vice president of global procurement and market supply officer for Frito-Lay North America and vice president of PepsiCo North America Transportation. In this role, Dianne is responsible for setting and executing strategies related to the procurement of ingredients, packaging, indirect materials and transportation across all of our North America businesses.

Dianne began her career with PepsiCo in 1993 and has held a variety of roles in PepsiCo’s global procurement group across both foods and beverages.

Prior to joining PepsiCo’s global procurement group, Dianne held several positions within PepsiCo’s treasury organization, including leadership roles in international treasury, global cash management and international treasury consulting.

Previously, Dianne worked in commercial banking, most recently as a vice president for JP Morgan Chase & Co.

Dianne holds an MBA from New York University, a Bachelor of Science from the Wharton School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania.

Chris Turner
Chris Turner

Senior Vice President of Transformation

Chris Turner is SVP, Transformation of Frito-Lay North America. In his role, Chris and his team are responsible for continuous improvement of the company's go-to-market operations. In addition, he and his team help drive major cross-functional initiatives including optimization of the end-to-end value chain and better integration of technology into key elements of the business. He previously served as SVP, Strategy for Frito-Lay North America with responsibility for defining the company's long-term strategic plans.

Prior to joining PepsiCo in February 2016, Chris was a Partner in the Dallas office of McKinsey & Company, the world’s largest strategic management consulting firm. During his 13 years with the firm, Chris served clients in the retail, restaurant, consumer packaged goods, airline, high-tech and media industries. Chris led McKinsey’s Service Operations practice in North America, focused on helping clients improve the effectiveness and productivity of their customer-facing frontline workforces. Chris also led McKinsey’s Restaurant Service Line, supporting restaurant companies in the U.S. and globally, and previously led McKinsey’s Retail Operations team. In addition, Chris led McKinsey’s recruiting efforts for its offices based in the Southern U.S.

Earlier in his career, Chris held roles at Accenture and Walmart. Chris earned his MBA from Stanford University and his bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Arkansas. Chris resides in Dallas, Texas, with his wife, Suzanne, and their children, Whit and Emory.

Steven Williams
Steven Williams

Senior Vice President, Chief Commercial Officer

Steven Williams is currently the senior vice president and chief commercial officer for Frito-Lay’s U.S. commercial organization. In this role, Steven oversees strategy, planning and execution for Frito-Lay’s U.S. field sales (direct store delivery), retailer (customer), and sales strategy teams.

A 20-year PepsiCo veteran, Steven most recently served as senior vice president and general manager for Frito-Lay’s East division where he was accountable for the overall business and performance management for the six geographic regions in the Eastern U.S. Prior to assuming this role, he led PepsiCo’s global Walmart business as senior vice president and general manager.

Steven also has served as senior vice president of sales for PepsiCo’s North America Nutrition businesses, which includes Quaker, Tropicana, Gatorade and Naked Emerging Brands. Steven joined Quaker in 1997, prior to the PepsiCo acquisition, and has held leadership positions of increased responsibility in sales, general management, customer management, sales planning and shopper marketing.

Steven holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Central Oklahoma and is a graduate of the Program for Leadership Development (PLD) at Harvard Business School.
