Tostitos Salsa remains safe to enjoy and is not affected by the recent salmonella outbreak linked to some types of raw tomatoes in the U.S. Processed foods containing COOKED tomatoes, including Tostitos salsa, do not pose a threat because when the tomatoes are cooked bacteria are killed. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) considers fully cooked tomato products to be safe.
