Irving goes for the gold!

As the Irving, Texas manufacturing celebrates its 50-year birthday, we recently sat down to chat with two of its most tenured employees, Marilyn, central lab tech (40 years), and Juan, warehouse tech (41 years).

From building expansion to production, a lot has changed during Marilyn and Juan’s time at the plant. However, one thing remains the same: the pride in what they do. “What I’ve learned about myself over the years is that I work hard and take pride in what I do,” said Marilyn.

Over the last 40 years, Marilyn and Juan have been committed to hard work and persistence. They agree that these core characteristics are key to a successful career at Frito-Lay, along with a passion for our consumers. “Come in and make sure you do your job well, so consumers get what they want and not something different,” said Juan.

And with 40 years of experience, comes decades’ worth of memories. For Marilyn, a memorable moment was the production of Flavor Rush – a Ruffles product from 1999 that included BBQ & Cheddar and Zesty Sour Cream flavors. “I remember how hard we worked,” said Marilyn. “We took pride in bringing in a new product. And of course the people behind those products. People make the difference.”

While Flavor Rush was a memorable moment, it didn’t replace her favorite Frito-Lay product. Both Marilyn and Juan value the classics, which is no surprise. Marilyn’s favorite Frito-Lay product is Classic Lay’s, and Juan’s is Fritos.

The pride and hard work of Frito-Lay employees are two things that make it possible to go 50 years. Cheers to the Irving team on going for the gold!
