Frito-Lay Expands Line of Nuts and Seeds with the Introduction of Two New Products

Frito-Lay Premium Jumbo Peanuts and Frito-Lay Pumpkin Seeds Now Available

PLANO, Texas – Frito-Lay announced today the introduction of two new snacks to its portfolio – Frito-Lay Premium Jumbo Peanuts and Frito-Lay Pumpkin Seeds. The two new offerings are the snack maker’s latest product introductions as the company continues to expand Frito-Lay’s Nuts & Seeds business in the snack industry’s $2.5 billion category. The new snacks are available nationally.

“With continued high single-digit growth in the nuts and seeds category, Frito-Lay’s Premium Jumbo Peanuts and Pumpkin Seeds are further additions to Frito-Lay’s portfolio and another indication of our company’s commitment to expand macrosnack offerings,” said Stephen Quinn, chief marketing officer, Frito-Lay North America. “The Premium Nuts segment continues to grow and offer consumers a higher quality snack option, while Pumpkin Seeds are a great tasting seasonal snack for the Fall.”

Frito-Lay Premium Jumbo Peanuts are the latest snack in the recently introduced Premium Nuts line from Frito-Lay. The oversized, shelled peanuts will be available in 5 oz. packaging for $1.59. They will join Frito-Lay Whole Cashews and Frito-Lay Deluxe Mixed Nuts in the Premium Nut line of snacks.

Frito-Lay Pumpkin Seeds offer a subtly sweet and nutty flavor combined with a roasted, chewy texture. The new seeds will be available in 2.25 oz. sleeves for $0.99. Frito-Lay Pumpkin Seeds are being offered for a limited time only through the end of October.

These new products join Frito-Lay’s current Nuts & Seeds line of snacks including the all-natural Nut Harvest line of nuts introduced in August 2004, original and flavored sunflower seeds, original and flavored shelled peanuts, in-shell peanuts, Frito-Lay’s Sabritas line of nuts, as well as Frito-Lay Trail Mix and Frito-Lay Nut & Fruit Mix. All of these snacks are available nationally in small format convenience stores and large format grocery stores through Frito-Lay’s Direct-Store-Delivery system.
